This blend of the smashing seeb may be aimed at ground foragers, but this does not mean it should be solely fed to the species in this category. Others can eat it too!

Why did we make this seed mix?

In the wild parrots do not feast on dry seeds, mainly because these are simply not accessible to them. Instead they seek out premature seeds, grains and spices, among other things. This type of diet is much easier for the bird to digest than the regular, boring dry seed many feed their feathered friends. There are also bonus nutrients found within premature seeds, grains and spices that lie dormant in their dried forms. So feeding this seed mix is not only a lot more natural for parrots, but it is also more nutritious AND easier to digest! Let’s not forget the foraging factor. Your bird can get their beak dirty while going through our wide range in ingredients - all 25 of them! They are all super healthy and loved by our flocks. This huge variety tingles the tastebuds whilst benefitting their bodies in every way possible. 

In the wild majority of ground foragers eat up to 70% of seeds - proven by scientific research! Although this diet should not be given to all species, it is important to give the correct species the correct nutrients.

Benefits

Millet - Rich in fiber and low in fat, millet is a good source of iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc. Millet promotes bone and muscle health, while supporting immune function.

Hemp Seeds - A complete source of protein as they provide all nine essential amino acids, contain omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, unsaturated fats, rich in vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. Hemp seeds protect the brain, aid the cardiovascular system, improve skin health, reduces inflammation and relieves symptoms of arthritis.

Milk Thistle Seeds - Known to have antioxidant, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Milk thistle supports the liver and helps alleviate symptoms of arthritis.

Raw Buckwheat - Has a good amino acid profile, is rich in vitamin P, vitamin E, iron and zinc. Raw buckwheat provides a high content of lysine which is essential in the muscle recovery process, buckwheat also supports the cardiovascular system and is rich in antioxidants.

Wheat Grain - Contains protein, fibre, B-vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin E, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and zinc. Wheat grain helps prevent cardiovascular disease and reduces chronic inflammation.

Spelt Grain - A great source of copper, selenium, vitamins B1, iron, magnesium, amino acids and zinc. Spelt grain can improve heart health, aid digestion and has a mildly nutty flavour.

Rye Grain - Rich in iron, fiber, and antioxidant minerals. Rye grain supports the cardiovascular system, lowers inflammation and improves the function of the digestive system.

Sesame Seeds - An incredibly rich source of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, sesamin, sesamolin and omega-6 fatty acids. Sesame seeds benefit the brain and skin, while protecting the liver and offering a mild nutty flavour.

Mustard Seeds - A great source of essential nutrients such as magnesium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin E, B-vitamins and calcium. Mustard seeds have antimicrobial properties that can protect against foodborne illnesses and can help relieve muscle spasms.

Cumin Seeds - Contain naturally occuring antioxidants, vitamin A, B-vitamins, vitamin E, iron, magnesium, fibre. Cumin seeds have antimicrobial properties, helping to fight infection and anti-inflammatory properties which may offer relief from symptoms of arthritis.

Nigella Seeds - A great source of phytochemical components such as thymoquinone, thymohydroquinone and thymol. Nigella seeds have amazing anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties which can offer pain relief while protecting the liver and kidneys.

Fenugreek seeds - a rich source of minerals such as copper, iron, magnesium, manganese and zinc. Fenugreek seeds are used to improve liver activity, treat anemia caused by iron deficiency and improve cardiovascular health.


Caraway Seeds - An excellent source of copper, potassium, iron, calcium, selenium, magnesium, manganese and zinc. Caraway seeds reduce chronic inflammation, support bone health and have antimicrobial properties.

Alfalfa Seeds - Rich in vitamin K, vitamin C, copper, folate and manganese. Alfalfa seeds aid the absorption of calcium, reduce inflammation and are a great source of antioxidants.

Golden Linseed - An excellent source of protein, omega 3 fatty acids, fibre, magnesium, zinc and iron. Golden linseed contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels and supports healthy nervous and cardiovascular systems.

Brown Linseed - A great source of fibre, rich in vitamin B6 and magnesium and great source of protein. Brown Linseed promotes a healthy cardiovascular system, aids brain health and bone strength.

Sunflower Seeds - Contains vitamin E, vitamin B, vitamin C, omega 6 essential fatty acid, unsaturated fatty acids, magnesium, phosphorus, protein, zinc, copper and iron. Sunflower seeds support the immune system, strengthen bones and muscles, improve brain health and manage the symptoms of arthritis.

Safflower Seeds - Rich in mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids, a great source of B vitamins, rich in iron, magnesium, phosphorus and vitamin E. Safflower seeds help protect the nervous system, support the immune system and help prevent cardiovascular disorders.

Canary Seed - High in protein, fibre and amino acids tryptophan and arginine. Canary seed supports the cardiovascular system, reduces inflammation and has antibacterial properties.

Oat Groats - A fantastic source of fibre and protein, they also contain potassium, calcium, magnesium, B-vitamins, vitamin E, copper, iron, phosphorus, selenium and zinc. Oat groats help protect the heart from cardiovascular disease, aid in digestion and can lower cholesterol.

Paddy Rice - Rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, iron, calcium and phosphorous. Paddy rice helps to protect the body from chronic conditions, provides energy and is easy on the digestive system.

Shipping & Returns

All food products are not currently available for shipping to Australia. All orders will be shipped within 24 hours of payment, apart from Saturdays and Sundays. Orders placed after midday on Fridays will be shipped on Mondays. Any changes to shipping times will be posted on our social media accounts and on our homepage.
